When Life Changes

I haven't written much on any of my blogs. I just didn't have the energy nor thought process to do it. Things were looking really good for us about 2 years ago. We had a few plans and we were making great strides in reaching our goals.

Then I get a text message that it was over. He was breaking up. He thought it was for the best. WHAT? And that was it. Done. Finished. I was shocked. So this part of my story will end.

But now to get back on track and figure out new goals. I have looked into PODs to make some extra money as trying to get a job around here is not looking good. I have started writing a book. I am hoping to be finished with it in the spring. The PODs are print on demand companies which print out designs on shirts, mugs, and other things. So far I have been doing pretty good and sales have been up 3x since last year. I am happy about that.

I did not plant much this past year at all. But a week ago I did plant some garlic for next year. We may try some potatoes for fun and do some broccoli and tomatoes. Mom likes her herbs. I will be planting kale because I love kale and ate alot of it over the season.

So new me and new life. Wish me luck!

Spring at the cemetery

We figured since Sunday which is Easter here, will be a little hectic, we decided to do the rounds at the cemeteries a few days earlier. We planted some daffodils at our grandmother's and father's graves. Every year we plant a few more at her's. Soon she will have a whole garden there lol. It's just very pretty how all the flowers come up at springtime here.

We just hope the chipmunks don't dig the bulbs up. They have been known to do that a few times.

Planting today!

Today is a big day here. I started planting today! I am sooo excited. We have a few containers from last year that I planted leaf lettuce, radishes and peas in today. In about 3 weeks we will be able to harvest some of the lettuce and radishes for salads. Peas will be a little later. Then we will be planting broccoli, eggplant, tomatoes and our herbs. I am also going to try yellow bush beans. As soon as what I planted today sprouts I will take video and pictures.

Spring Time!

Finally Spring is here! I am sooo happy! This week I will be planting lettuce, peas and beets from seed. We have leaf lettuce, and bibb so that will be a good variety. I just have to get some pole beans, yellow and summer squash and maybe some carrots and flower seeds. I will probably upload a video by this coming weekend. So nice to get back into gardening.

Just Can't Get A Break

Well DH isn't having much luck. Seems in order to building or even restore the barn he needs permits and he has been told no. So. Now we don't know what to do since the money has been used to get items to make the restoration. Nice, right? So back to square one and he is trying to find a job. I have been selling stuff on Amazon but now that has fallen through. Seems people don;t know how to read and are very impatient. Most of our items take 28 days and most dont have a problem with that. But a handful have given us bad reviews that they didn't get there stuff in a few days and now Amazon has closed our account. Even though every item says shipped out in 28 days this didnt matter to them. What mattered was the customer was not satifised. So now we are trying to sell stuff on Ecrater. I hope this pans out. Will be adding more stuff tonight I hope.

So that is about it in a nutshell. Hoping for some good news soon.

New Place New Plantings

When major changes take place in your life they are either good or bad. We had what started out bad turn into something very good. Under circumstances we couldn't control we had to sell our home in a short amount of time. Needless to say we didn't get anywhere near what we should have gotten. But with that said we needed a game plan. Trying to think of things at the last minute was stressful. So we came up with one. I would go and stay with my mom and family in New York while my DH restores his family's old dairy barn. We gave ourselves about a year to get this done right since we will have less money than what you would normally have. DH will be doing most of the work himself with things he can't do will be done by family and friends.
I have to say the hardest thing is being apart. He has no internet and the phone service is terrible. He is busy and so I am. I am helping my mom go through stuff here for garage sales and just getting a bit more organized.
Yesterday I planted in containers some green peppers and Roma tomatoes. Today I will be planting some eggplant. Mom has alot of herbs and tomatoes she planted. Weather here has been cool. Being back home alot has changed. I have been adding videos to my youtube channel and need to update this blog so i can post them here since this one is linked to my channel.
This weekend we are going to the local fleamarket and look for vintage things to sell on ebay. Mostly cameras and books.

Growing Seeds In Recycled Contianers

It has now started to get warmer which I am sooo happy about. Time to start the seeds inside. But wait... I don't have plastic seed starter packs or pots to start them in. That's ok if you don't either. You can use what's around you. In this video I show you what I planted in. Can anyone else say they don't like the sound of their own voice?  ( lol )

I will be doing another video in the coming days. I have planted corn, carrots, beets and peas outside. Happy Plantings!
